ArticlesRadiolucency
(X-Ray Translucency)
- RADIOLUCENT: Anything (material) that permits the
penetration and passage of X-rays or other forms of radiation.
- RADIOPAQUE: Anything (material) that blocks the
penetration of X-rays.
- The fabrics and acrylic adhesives (“glue”) used by
Sound Horse Technologies
in Series I, II &
III shoes permit the penetration of X-rays
and are, therefore, radiolucent.
- With Sound Horse fabric & acrylic glue used to attach the
cuff to the hoof, the assembly can be left in place when
obtaining radiographs of the equine foot as the cuff and glue
combined are evident as an easily distinguishable, minimally
dense band of material superimposed on the hoof wall. The bony
detail beneath is easily evaluated.
